The new lifestyle collection by Inès Olympe Mercadal

The inspiring world of designer Inès Olympe Mercadal is branching out into lifestyle. Look out for her range of tableware, lighting and other decorative pieces at Premiere Classe from 2nd to 4th October in the Jardin des Tuileries.

Inès-Olympe Mercadal has already taken the fashion world by storm with her versatility: releasing collections of vintage shoes; launching her own ready-to-wear label; releasing an album and two singles, as well as undertaking multiple collaborations as Artistic Director (with Le Bourget, Emmanuelle Khanh, Eram, La Redoute). Now, Inès-Olympe Mercadal is unveiling her latest project: a collection of culinary art pieces.

One of the collection’s key models is a unique and elegant piece of ceramic tableware. All of the designs are colourful, cheerful and successful in bridging the gap between timeless elegance and subtle boldness, much like the designer herself, who over the years has become a “face of Paris”.

All in all, it is as a proud homemaker that she is so thrilled to announce her first collection celebrating the French Art de vivre.

Inès-Olympe Mercadal tells us about her new collection:

“In our environmentally-responsible workshop in Catalonia, each piece created is unique and colourful, with our IOM seal being hand-stamped on the back of the piece after two days of drying under the Spanish sun and two firings at 1300 degrees.

The shapes of these hand-crafted plates have a charming irregularity and roughness that I wanted to keep and we sometimes even incorporate our ceramists’ fingerprints; all act as proof of the originality of the designs. I chose psychedelic colours that have always inspired me. I am fascinated by the unpredictability of these patterns, the depth of the natural pigments, and the use of ancestral techniques. It's quite a playful collection characterised by mixing Jaspé colours to create stunning tableware pieces."
